Ref: At least three people were killed and 40 others injured in a tragic road accident in front of RAB office under Sadar Upazila of the district on Tuesday evening.
The deceased were identified as Nabi Hossain, 25, bus helper, Momin, 40, son of Shamsu of Gajaria area under Polash upazila and Hafiz Uddin, son of Shamsu Mia of the same area.
Highway police and injured told banglanews that a passenger bus from coming Bhairob collided head-on with a truck coming from opposite direction in front of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) office on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway at around 6:30pm, leaving three people dead on the spot and 40 others injured.
The injured were rushed to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital and of them, six were in critical condition. Death toll may rise, said a spot account of the accident.
Police seized the bus and truck. The driver of the bus was held but the truck driver managed to flee the scene.
